Joanne is a senior litigation associate that focuses on commercial and securities litigation. She has broad experience spanning several industries including oil and gas, telecommunications, construction, real-estate, manufacturing and distribution. She specializes in helping her clients navigate large, complex disputes and has acted in shareholder disputes, proxy contests, enforcement proceedings before the Alberta Securities Commission, director and officer liability cases, and a class action.

Joanne’s other point of focus is international commercial arbitration, where she has acted as counsel for state entities including a middle eastern country. She has co-authored book chapters in publications such as The Leading Practitioners’ Guide to Oil and Gas Arbitrations and Arbitration World. Prior to joining BD&P, Joanne worked in the trade policy and commercial relations divisions of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. She has always been interested in the connectedness of our global economy, and her foray into blockchain and smart contracts is no exception. She is focused on staying ahead of legal and non-legal developments in this field. She also clerked for the Alberta Court of Appeal.
