Description

Dominick Chirichella provides an overview of crude oil and natural gas gathering, processing, pipelines, and storage terminals. The recent phenomenal growth of domestic crude oil and natural gas production, and the need to get these products to market, has necessitated the building of vast new pipeline, processing and terminal systems. The flow of crude oil to refineries has essentially reversed so that many existing pipelines are too small or are moving the wrong direction. For the foreseeable future, midstream crude oil transportation will continue to be a fast developing and critical part of the North American energy renaissance. On the natural gas side, areas like the Marcellus region are not only going through a production renaissance but a logistics boom as midstream companies work to get gas to a wide area of the United States. In addition to the operational aspects of the infrastructure, Chirichella examines the history, evolution and forward trends of these business areas.
