Tony Ross’ thirty plus year career in banking has included management, business development, credit analysis, credit administration, and capital markets experience. Concurrently, Tony held a succession of increasingly more responsible positions within the Florida Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve retiring in 2012 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Ross joined Woodforest National Bank in 2016 in The Woodlands (Houston) as Chief Credit Officer where he is responsible for effective, sound, and consistent underwriting and management within the bank’s loan portfolio and the achievement of the bank’s business goals. Tony is also a past Chairman of the Risk Management Association (RMA) Gulf Coast Chapter, past President of RMA’s Texas Chapter, and is RMA-Credit Risk Certified. Additionally, Mr. Ross served on the faculty of the Consumer Bankers Association Executive Banking School.

Prior to joining Woodforest, Tony served in Senior Credit Officer roles for Iberiabank, Capital One, Wachovia, Regions and Washington Mutual. Before entering credit risk management, Tony began his banking career with SunTrust Banks where he held corporate/investment banking and management positions over ten years. Mr. Ross’ industry expertise included energy, Ag commodities, insurance, rail roads, utilities, and media/telecommunications. 

A native of Houston, Texas, Tony was graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1983 with a B.S. in Geology, conducted post graduate work in petroleum geology at Texas A&M University, and received his M.B.A. with honors from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in 1988.
