Christie Degard is Director and Senior Trading Counsel at Trading Counsel Solutions LLC, a firm focused on providing innovative, practical and affordable legal advisement to energy trading clients. Christie is a multi-commodity trading attorney and has spent the bulk of her legal career as in-house counsel for large energy corporations covering the full spectrum of energy trading, from production and refining to wholesale marketing and retail supply.
Christie represents clients in a wide range of transactions for the purchase and sale of energy commodities including natural gas, LNG, NGLs, electricity, crude oil, gasoline and other refined products, coal, helium, and various related environmental credits including, for example, RECs, RINs, LCFS, and AB32 products. Her expertise includes structuring and negotiating bespoke, structured transactions, such as asset management agreements, energy management agreements, tolling agreements, and power purchase agreements, as well as utilizing standardized energy commodity agreements such as the ISDA, NAESB, GasEDI, LEAP, EEI, and WSPP, and accompanying credit agreements for all transactions including credit support agreements, first liens, and security agreements.
Christie is barred in Illinois and Michigan and a member of IECA and Advancing Women in Energy.
