As part of the IECA's Credit Risk Management Certification Program (CRMCP), the Fundamentals of Bank Credit Risk Analysis training course will teach participants the framework and tools necessary to analyze bank credit risk, in both developed and emerging markets utilizing Moody's Bank Financial Strength Rating: Global Methodology. The course will offer a combination of short presentations, discussions, exercises, and case studies.
Upon completion of this seminar, delegates will be able to:
- Apply a structured framework to analyze banking institutions
- Analyze key qualitative risk factors
- Identify, calculate and interpret key ratios
- Evaluate a bank’s strength based on its published financial information
- Apply Moody's ratings tools and methodology to banks in mature and developing markets
Credits: This course meets one of the required CRMCP elective courses. This course qualifies for CPE.
Program Level: Basic/Intermediate
Prerequisites: No prior analytical experience is necessary, but familiarity with the activities of banks, their business lines, and organization is desirable
Who Should Attend: Credit Analysts, Credit Managers, Treasury Analysts and Risk Managers
Advance Preparation: Research documents could be provided giving background to the case study that will be used during the course presentations
Time Commitment: This course will begin at 9am both days and will not end until 5pm both days, travel arrangements should be made with this in mind.
Introducing Reiko McCarthy
New to the IECA team, Reiko is based in New York and is a trainer specializing in financial institutions. She conducts fundamental and advanced bank credit seminars.Reiko's previous company experience includes the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Moody's Investor Services, and Morgan Stanley in New York as well as JP Morgan in Tokyo, working as a sell-side bank analyst in their Fixed Income Department. Reiko also has experience as a buy-side equity analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein and Olayan America Corporation, providing research on international financial institutions operating around the world. She has an MBA in Finance from New York University and speaks fluent English and Japanese.
